Airstream Adventures at Autocamp
If you're looking for a weekend adventure outside of San Francisco - look no further than AutoCamp by the Russian River. Nestled in a grove of native Redwood trees only 90 minutes from San Francisco - this location is perfect for families, couples and groups of friends looking for a weekend get-away. At Autocamp you can enjoy the spirit of camping with the comfort of a luxury hotel. This is my kind of #glamping!!
Autocamp has modern and luxurious airstreams and glamping tents onsite, as well as spa inspired bathrooms, individual and communal fire pits, complimentary bikes, complimentary wine tasting, tea, and breakfast. You can relax in a hammock under the Redwoods or hike the neighboring trails - there's something for everyone.
Activities:
Hike at Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve. Perfect spot for a picnic.
My favorite activity was borrowing a bike from Autocamp and exploring the quaint town of Guerneville.
Watertreks Ecotours - SUP boards, kayaking.
White Water Rafting through Rubicon Adventures
Riverbed yoga in Guerneville.
Wine Tasting in Guerneville/Russian River Area - over 200 wineries to choose from.
Buy/Bring a floatie and cruz the river - can't beat a lazy river day.
Take a trip to Chanslor Ranch for horseback riding and a nature retreat.
Visit Korbel for Champagne Tasting or just visit the Korbel Deli - the deli is delish! Korbel, is the oldest continually operating champagne house in North America and they offer free tours of the winery. I'll be honest, Korbel is not my fave, but the history was fascinating and the champagne tasting is free.
Eat & Drink:
I have to admit, there's not a lot to choose from and if you are staying at Autocamp - I highly recommend bringing food to BBQ, make smores, and drink. You'll want to use the property as much as you can. If you choose to dine out - my suggestions are below:
El Barrio - I'm a sucker for Mexican, this modern Mexican Cocktail Lounge is the cutest in town. The drinks are strong and I adore the decor.
After dinner, stop at the Guerneville Bank Club for Nimble & Finn's ice cream - so yummy!
Boon Eat + Drink is probably the nicest restaurant in town, we had dinner here - expect huge burgers!
River's End Restaurant - ocean views and fine dining.
Agriculture Public House - fine dining.
Here are more spots (I didn't dine at these places, but they come recommended). I'd suggest researching: Big Bottom Market, Seaside Metal if you like oysters and a raw bar, Garden Grill for BBQ and brunch, Stumptown Brewery, Rainbow Cattle Club (Gay-friendly saloon), Blended Choice for smoothies and juices and Chef Patrick's for California-French cuisine.
The price to stay in one of the luxurious airstreams is not cheap, but worth the splurge for a memorable weekend. I highly recommend the adventure. Autocamps are popping up everywhere - for more locations (Santa Barbara & Yosemite ) - check out the website.
I have Yosemite AutoCamp on my list for 2019!
